• When attaching the tester lead to the ABS/TCS HU/CM harness connector, the SST (49 G066 001) must be used. (See ABS/TCS HU/CM INSPECTION.)

Engine control system, Torque reduction request signal line

DETECTION CONDITION

• After engine is warmed up, the signal that indicates torque reduction signal malfunction or engine control system malfunction is sent from PCM.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

• Malfunction of engine control system
• Malfunction of related wiring harness

Diagnostic procedure

INSPECT FOR DTCs IN PCM
• Turn ignition key to OFF.
• Connect WDS or equivalent to DLC-2.
• Turn ignition key to ON (engine OFF).
• Is DTC for engine control system obtained?
Yes
Follow inspection procedures for engine control system.
No
Go to next step.

VERIFY WHETHER MALFUNCTION IS IN WIRING HARNESS (BETWEEN TERMINAL R AND AA OF ABS/TCS HU/CM)
• Turn ignition key to OFF.
• Connect ABS/TCS HU/CM connector.
• Connect SST (adapter harness) to ABS/TCS HU/CM connector (harness side and ABS/TCS HU/CM side).
• Turn ignition key to ON (engine OFF).
• Measure voltage between terminal R and AA of SST (adapter harness).
 

Voltage

5 V

 
• Is voltage as specified?
Yes
Go to Step 5.
No
Go to next step.

INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN ABS/TCS HU/CM AND PCM FOR CONTINUITY
• Turn ignition key to OFF.
• Disconnect SST (adapter harness) from ABS/TCS HU/CM (ABS/TCS HU/CM side)
• Disconnect PCM connector.
• Inspect for continuity between terminal R of SST (adapter harness) and terminal 2F of PCM connector (harness side).
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to next step.
No
Repair or replace harness then go to Step 6.

INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN TERMINAL R OF ABS/TCS HU/CM AND GROUND FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Inspect for continuity between terminal R of SST (adapter harness) and ground.
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace harness, then go to Step 6.
No
Replace PCM, then go to Step 6.

INSPECT VOLTAGE PATTERN AT TERMINAL R OF ABS/TCS HU/CM
• Connect PCM connector and SST (adapter harness) to ABS/TCS HU/CM (ABS/TCS HU/CM side).
• Turn ignition key to ON.
• Inspect voltage pattern at ABS/TCS HU/CM terminal R using oscilloscope.
Yes
Go to next step.
No
Replace ABS/TCS HU/CM, then go to next step.

• Is voltage pattern as specified?

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Clear DTC from memory.
• Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace ABS/TCS HU/CM, then go to next step.
No
Go to next step.
7
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
• Is there any DTC present?
Yes
Go to applicable DTC inspection.
No
Troubleshooting completed.
